China Recommends Halving Meat Eating

Chinese citizens have been advised to cut their meat consumption by half.

The Health Ministry's new plan has the potential to reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions by a billion tonnes over the next fifteen years.

The Guardian reports that China currently consumes half of the world's pork, and 28 percent of all of the world's meat.

Alongside environmental benefits, the recommendations would also help to cut growing rates of diabetes and obesity amongst Chinese people.
